A manufacturer of metal-alloys is interested in estimating the tensile strength of its new product. Strength can be measured by recording the force required to pull the alloy apart. If this force is measured in pounds, at least how many samples should be tested in order to estimate the average force required to break the bindings to within 50lbs with 98% confidence? Assume that the s.d. is known to be 500lbs.
